The Role
As a Trade Compliance specialist you will ensures that Amgen’s global import and export activities comply with international trade laws and internal policies. The role involves managing customs regulations, supporting audits, resolving trade issues, and improving compliance processes. It requires strong knowledge of global trade rules, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
Responsibilities
- Ensure global import and export activities comply with trade laws and Amgen’s internal policies.
- Develop, update, and implement trade compliance standards, procedures, and controls.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on customs regulations and export controls.
- Act as a point of contact for resolving trade-related issues and escalations.
- Monitor and interpret changes in trade regulations and assess their impact.
- Support customs audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Manage export control processes, including permits and license applications.
- Oversee customs brokers and third-party trade service providers.
- Track and report trade compliance metrics and performance indicators.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support global supply chain and planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with 4 years, or Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of trade compliance experience in global import/export operations.
- In-depth knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, origin determination, EU customs procedures, and international customs/WTO regulations; experience with export controls, license/permit management, and AEO certifications.
- Familiarity with international trade law, customs audits, trade sanctions, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and GDP (Good Distribution Practice) requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills; ability to handle ambiguity, drive process improvements, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work cross-functionally, cross-regionally, and at all levels of the organization; skilled at partnering with internal teams, customs authorities, and third-party brokers.
