The Company
The company is a global chemical company and one of the largest producers of plastics, chemicals, and refining products. It specializes in the production of polypropylene, polyethylene, advanced polymers, and other chemicals used in a wide range of industries, including packaging, automotive, and construction.     

The Role
The client is looking for a Project Engineer Mechanical with expertise in static and rotating equipment to support a key improvement project at their Moerdijk site. In this position, you will lead and support engineering initiatives within the petrochemical sector, working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners. The role demands a solid understanding of mechanical systems, project execution processes, and compliance with technical and safety standards. 

Responsibilities

• Managing and executing mechanical engineering projects using the company's project management framework.
• Collaborating with stakeholders across departments and with external vendors to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
• Conducting and participating in Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
• Supporting Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) initiatives.
• Preparing and overseeing detailed technical documentation and reports.
• Applying mechanical ATEX knowledge in practical scenarios.
• Handling project scoping, planning, cost estimation, and progress monitoring.
• Staying engaged beyond standard working hours if project needs require.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Over 5 years of experience in project execution within the petrochemical industry, ideally including on-site exposure.
• Fluent in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
• Strong grasp of piping, rotating equipment, and structural mechanics.
• Familiarity with ATEX standards and applications.
• Structured and proactive work approach.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across different organizational levels.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and setting priorities effectively.
• Proficient in technical writing and documentation.
• Experience with gated project execution methods and tools such as Documentum and 3D modeling software
